Pieces...

Photobucket

do you remember...

the first time you saw a piece...

...your breath caught with the utter beauty of it...

and then you had to redo a whole room around that piece...

when i first laid eyes upon that dough bowl i knew i had to have it...

then came this reproduction painting by Corot...

A Cow in a Marsh...

the muted tones and the lonely cow made it an instant *love*

Photobucket

now it is no secret that i adore iron...

so this prairie girl could not say no to these iron brackets from ballard design...{one of my favorite catalogs...sigh...bliss}

Photobucket

while browsing a small out of the way shop one afternoon i found this stuffed in a corner....

my lighting was not so good on this snowy afternoon so it is hard to get the full effect of this picture...

it is worn, faded, and tattered...

i have no idea where it came from...but so glad it came to this prairie home...

Photobucket

these next two bulls received the eyeball roll from the husband...

bulls are meant to be on the range not in the home...you know...

okay...whatever....just thinking of you honey... :0)

these beauties are not going anywhere...

yes bulls can be beauties...i think...hmmm...maybe i shouldn't say that one to loudly....not cowboy enough...

Photobucket

Photobucket

this isn't anything cowy {?!!?} but it reminds me of myself and my husband...

except we're not potato farmers...

oh well...*love* the piece...

Photobucket

this last one is a photo of my newest addition...

found at the thrift store...felt a little guilty about getting just the cow...

the rest of the nativity scene was left behind...

i know...{shame}

Photobucket

so there you have it...my first piece quickly followed by others that started it all...

i wanted to say *thank you* to fawn for letting me do a little guest post on her absolutely amazing blog Patina Soul...to say that i was nervous is a complete understatement...sigh...i hope i didn't do to much damage!

thanks fawn!!

So at the risk of sounding like a crazed stalker, I have to tell you that I love your home, your style and your passion for where and how you live. I think I have read and reread your posts many times! I love my house but I could move into yours in a heartbeat! I love all your cow finds - especially the cow in a marsh painting. Would love to see how you have them all incorporated in your home ~

I wish I could find a dough bowl like that! I have been looking for a while now. I actually did find one very similar a few days ago but it was $155...WAY out of my price range. I have yet to find one under $100...except for smaller round ones. I'll keep hunting I guess. Yours is lovely!

I know that eye rolling from the husband all too well but I've learned that the bigger the eye roll, the faster the item will sell in my shop. TeeHee.

Wonderful BLOG!! I love all the Bull & cow stuff! It reminds me of growing up in the country...with a house filled with horsey events & cowgirls dreams. Although...I was a true beach girl and did not really fit with my sister's 4H & horse shows...BUT I truly appreciate all of it:)

We have something in common...our name is spelled the same!!!

Take Care,

Kristin

I think it is simply amazing how easily you are able to pull random "finds" togther to make a wonderful statment.

The cow painting is AMAZING. Love that it's so "worn" looking.

And of course I think the bulls are adorable! No keeping them outside. They deserve a place of honor.

It only makes the cow more special, being from a nativity scene. I find the animals being the first witnesses to the birth of Jesus to be very, very charming. And don't feel bad...I collect camel figurines, and I think a few of my wooden one's are also from nativity scenes.

Great things you have, this is my first time here....and in relation to another post, I like the painted pine floors.
