Harvest Hutch...

it's time girls...

time that i put away the flip flops and face that fall has arrived...

usually i'm the first to bring out ALL...and i mean ALL the fall decor i could get my prairie hands upon...

night raids of wheat fields and pumpkin patches were always top priority {i kidd neighbors, seriously...that wasn't me you shot at with a 12 gauge in the middle of the night last fall...really...}

but this year i find myself...hhhmm...i don't really know....i find myself somewhat lackadaisical in my harvest decorating...

so today since i didn't have a million other things to do, like packing for a four day weekend vacation without wild prairie children {cannot wait to share!!! eeeee!!!!}

i decided to add a little harvest to the hutch, and join a little party while i'm at it...

nothing too extreme...

just a little quack grass tucked into some fabulous vintage sap buckets...

the burnt orange of my copper measures takes the place of pumpkins...

i will probably add a little bit more...

maybe some of those wonderful white pumpkins, and some green gourds...

but no wheat or bright orange pumpkins this fall...sigh...

i know...but really if you had to extract buckshot from your backside you might be a little hesitant too... ;0)

Industrial Farm Vignettes...

one thing i've fallen in love with while decorating is tucking industrial farm pieces in among my more delicate, softer pieces...

oil cans mixed in with my white ironstone and copper pieces...

a touch of baby's breath softens a vintage sap bucket, galvanized gas can and a rescued license plate..

these amazing sap buckets came from my favorite online store...

barnhouse marketplace...

another farm vignette atop my fridge...

and a piece that speaks for itself and needs no embellishment on my part...

these farm pumps are always fun to find...

i would keep each and every one if i could...

the husband thinks two is enough...

sigh...

i've got to stop listening to that man!! :0)

we had more rain, i never knew our little prairie could be so green...

*loving* it and while i'm usually the first to long for the crisp autumn days i simply can't find the desire for summer to pass...

have you seen the new country living girls??

in their fresh picks section they feature farmhouse decor inspired by barnyard animals...

i know...

be still my prairie heart...

and do you remember when i had a dilemma awhile ago as to what to put above my couch...

well i decided to bring an old ladder home from my shop to hang above my couch and put picture frames inside it...

i'm still waiting for another number 5 arrive and plan to stencil my house number under the right side of the ladder....or maybe the coordinates of our farm....hhhmmm....definitely something with numbers...

and guess what...yep...country living had three clever uses for an old ladder, one being using it as a frame...

so maybe, just maybe this prairie girl is doing something right with all her cows and ladders!

so it's finally done enough that i dare share...

now remember...

my house is over a hundred years old...

i wish this space looked as beautiful as tracey's and jeanne's...

but...sigh...i married a farmer...

so i keep dreaming ;0)...

and i create here...

did you notice my string holder...

it is an old copper funnel...i think i may have to hang it somewhere...but right now it sits on my vintage paper cutter...

little corner that holds my supplies for my mixed media and altered art...{..have some projects to share from my artist classes soon..}

this counter was built by mr. prairie...*love it...oh and mr. prairie too...*

it goes the length of the room...is just the right height...and is fabulous when cutting fabric..

the rod for my drop cloth curtain is metal pipe...

not sure i want him to go...he is soooo practical...which translates into *no fun on shopping trips*
