What Does a Whisper Look Like...

Photobucket

..let us be silent that we may hear the whispers of God..

....Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)....

Photobucket

as i go through my days i often wonder...

how the women of yester year did it...

how they got through their days...

Photobucket

i believe they were sensitive to the still small whispers...

they were able to see His beauty in the smallest of wonders...

...and held tight...

Prismatic Blue...

a couple little things you should know about me...

i never win anything in my life...

except the time i won a bottle of sunkist pop from payless shoe source when i was about 8 years old...

i know...how in the world was i so lucky!?!?...

but guess what...i had to share...with my older brother...sigh...

no it didn't taste sweeter because of it...

sharing + sweeter feeling/taste...didn't happen...

i guess that is not quite so bad as when my mom won a can of coffee as a young child...

she didn't get to share...and experience that feel good sweeter sensation that everyone said would happen...which didn't...

nope...

she had to give it back!?!?....yep...

can you see where i get my luck from....

anyways...

i am posting here today to let you all know i am breaking the not so lucky streak in my family...

because this arrived in my mailbox today...

Photobucket

i know...swoon...

not only is the necklace absolutely amazing...but that tin is..oh.my.divine.

Melinda the Designer and Owner of Alabaster Rose Designs was hosting a giveaway on her blog...

which i won...

happy happy joy joy...

Photobucket

another little thing about me...

i'm a cowgirl...

yep...

born and raised in the saddle...

Photobucket

this necklace fits me to a t and it even has the year of my birth..

...1904...

it's all about the prairie air ladies...

yep...

no need for that fountain of youth...

just join me on the prairie...

Melinda's designs are exactly what this prairie girl was looking for in jewelry...

vintage inspired with a little prairie thrown in the mix...

so guess what...

Faded Prairie will be carrying Alabaster Rose Designs starting this spring...

*thank you* to melinda, you are too sweet and i can't wait to work with you!!

Dreaming in Pink...

Photobucket

a prairie girl needs pretty things...

pretty pink things among the cowboy leathers and black felt hats...

needless to say my daughter has lacked sufficient ~fancy clancey~ goods...

she shares a room with her two rowdy, cowboy brothers...

i'm afraid they are having an effect on her...

she insists on wearing a south sanpete pack hat...

the hat blazing a snorting bull across it's crown...

{i won't take the blame for that one...my bulls are different}

hhmmm...

Photobucket

so...

i've been collecting a few things...

a few prairie finds...a few french finds...

all pink, grey, cream and white...

and vintage of course...

Photobucket

hopefully her dreams will whisper of the beauty and gentle ways of this life on the prairie...

chippy pink vintage bird cage was found in this amazing store..

old crow farm

metal marquee letters...

vintage embellishments

Pieces...

Photobucket

do you remember...

the first time you saw a piece...

...your breath caught with the utter beauty of it...

and then you had to redo a whole room around that piece...

when i first laid eyes upon that dough bowl i knew i had to have it...

then came this reproduction painting by Corot...

A Cow in a Marsh...

the muted tones and the lonely cow made it an instant *love*

Photobucket

now it is no secret that i adore iron...

so this prairie girl could not say no to these iron brackets from ballard design...{one of my favorite catalogs...sigh...bliss}

Photobucket

while browsing a small out of the way shop one afternoon i found this stuffed in a corner....

my lighting was not so good on this snowy afternoon so it is hard to get the full effect of this picture...

it is worn, faded, and tattered...

i have no idea where it came from...but so glad it came to this prairie home...

Photobucket

Photobucket

these next two bulls received the eyeball roll from the husband...

bulls are meant to be on the range not in the home...you know...

okay...whatever....just thinking of you honey... :0)

these beauties are not going anywhere...

yes bulls can be beauties...i think...hmmm...maybe i shouldn't say that one to loudly....not cowboy enough...

Photobucket

Photobucket

this isn't anything cowy {?!!?} but it reminds me of myself and my husband...

except we're not potato farmers...

oh well...*love* the piece...

Photobucket

this last one is a photo of my newest addition...

found at the thrift store...felt a little guilty about getting just the cow...

the rest of the nativity scene was left behind...

i know...{shame}

Photobucket

so there you have it...my first piece quickly followed by others that started it all...

i wanted to say *thank you* to fawn for letting me do a little guest post on her absolutely amazing blog Patina Soul...to say that i was nervous is a complete understatement...sigh...i hope i didn't do to much damage!

thanks fawn!!
