White Copper?

hello girls...

do you ever get ideas in your head and that is all you can think {obsess} about?

i recently stopped by lori's place when she featured a friend's home....

this friend lives in a barn...

i know *divine*...

i live in a barn too but not as clean and oh.my.goodness.fabulousness...

mine actually smells like a barn so you know i may be the lucky one out of the two...

anyways...

lori's friend recenly put in 8" wide plank flooring using plywood?!?! i know....

then she painted it white! girls it looks amazing...i never knew plywood could look so chic...

lori shares the ins and outs of installing which got the old brain jump started...

should i try it??

i have a lot a furniture like this and i'm not sure the white floors would mesh...

i know i could paint the furniture white also but what if i change my mind about the whole white thing in a few years, the floors can stay here when {if} my husband ever decides to build me my dream home, but the furniture would have to go with us...

i also have quite a few copper pieces in my home and still *drool* over the look of copper, would white look okay with it??

what do you think girls?? should i try it? maybe not pure white in color but maybe more a greyish, off white color??

hhmmmm...be sure to check out lori's post, the house really is fabulous...and clean...sigh...*dream*...

Absolutely YES, do it! I love the barn she showed and if I had a room to do it in, I would in a heartbeat.
Is that your own hutch - it's gorgeous especially with all your accessories...I desperately want your copper pitchers. I am going to be obsessed with those now! Seriously.
I think the white - or creamy white - or whiteish gray floors would look great with your furniture. It would make your rustic furniture really stand out. It would be very prairie country. :)

Oh my mercy, do I ever love that floor. Seriously.

I think it would be a blast to do this....you could have big ol' braided rugs on there to warm it up a bit.

Thanks for sharing your sweet find!

I think white floors would be wonderful with your pine. Of course you can also use area rugs to define your spaces. With that said, about 15 years ago, we put in wood floors. I also wanted the wider boards. We found some that were actually tongue and groove for ceilings, and just used the underside. It was very economical...you might also want to check this out. Keep us posted.

Definately leave the wood wood - it looks great with white. Trust me :o) Barn House has an awesome wood cupboard like your ( filled with ironstone ). It looks so farmhouse / prairie.
I like the look of copper with white , I like tarnished silver, too. They both look great.

I seen Lori's feature as well and loved that floor. I showed my husband knowing he would never go for the white but I was thinking staining and it would be cheaper than hardwoods.

Love your furniture and I do think you could pull it off. I have some of the rustic pine furniture and I painted ours black which I love.

Anxious to see what you do.

If you are unsure, why not take a photo into Photshop and color the floors white to see what you think?

If you do it, so will I. I have been scraping off layers of old vinyl flooring in my house and found spotty stained fir. I think it would be beautiful if I stained it really dark, to hid all the marks, but that's not the look I am really after. I have been looking at Scandinavian blogs and they all have painted floors. I love them. I am so close to doing it, I even bought a gal. of floor paint. Can't wait to see what you so. Keep us posted.

Wow, I love the floor and how creative to use plywood! We had cream colored floors in our previous house and I loved the look with my antique pine pieces.

Hi sweet girl...I think, and this is just my opinion and I am no one really...to leave it the way it is...ekk I know, I just totally made you upset huh? not sure why, but you just have this amazing style that is all your own and works so brilliantly, I think you would be sad if you painted everything white...ok, I am done. have a fabulous weekend!

Oh...I think the white floors are gorgeous...and would go with all of your amazing things. Especially with rugs and as it gets worn in places. HOWEVER...this is my only problem with white...although with wood you can easily clean it up...every dirt/mud track from kids...any dark hair from animals will show up. When I finally get new floors...I want it to be the color of dirt:):)

Have fun!!!

What about a distressed white?

-k here's the practical side to me. white floors would be nightmareish on a farm. it's hard with my dark hard wood floors to keep them from looking grungy with all the mud and farm 'stuff' that makes its way into our house. eeek.
i do think they would look nice with your furniture though...
maybe a more off whitish.

I would do white floors if I were putting them in new like Lori's friend, or if my wood floors were extremely damaged and there was no way to fix them. Other than that I'd never paint over beautiful wooden floors. There is nothing like the patina of old wood. Don't get me wrong- I love the look too, but once you do it you're stuck with it. If you want more white in your home, I'd add some painted white furniture. Especially in a farmhouse, I think regular wood is better. If you have a room without wood floors already, maybe try putting in the white wide plank stuff new.
Just my opinion!

Lori's floors got my head a-spinning too. Too fabulous!

As for white creamy floors in your home, I say go for it. I think it would blend very nicely with what you have without having to paint anything you weren't sure about. If in the end you didn't like it you could always paint it a darker color you thought might like better.
