Prairie Feature...

did you all have a wonderful weekend??

i do hope so...summer officially started here on the prairie...

there is nothing i *love* more about summer than going to barn sales, antique markets, and hunting for some good farm junk...sigh...*bliss*...

living on the prairie does put a damper on that bliss just a tad..

you see living in the middle of nowhere...i really go nowhere...

there are SO many good shows lined up for the summer around the good ole U.S.A. that i thought i would share some with you during the coming weeks that this prairie girl is yearning to visit...

first to the prairie ...

beth's cottage {Patina White} is located within the shoppes of shady hollow market in great lakes, mn that she opens from memorial day through labor day...

i was lucky enough to visit her on her blog the day she posted this...

yes, that happens to be a chick brooder upcycled for your prairie home...

this prairie girl was {is} so desperate for one i offered beth my first born...{i kid, really}...{sort of}... ;0)

beth welcomes readers to not only peek into her shoppe but also her farmhouse...

oh.my. if only i had a creative room such as this...the possibilities...

that table, that chair, that chandie...

i also told beth i would be right over just so i could sink into this beauty...

you know i really thought i was somethin', somethin' with my little clockfaces...

okay beth...you've put this prairie girl in her place and have shown her the "clockface light"... ;0)

i just want to say right now that if you are lucky enough to visit beth and patina white this prairie girl is not responsible for the damage you do to YOUR husband's calf check... ;0)

Prairie Summer...

it's official...summer has begun!

i wonder if it's to late to enroll the kids in summer school...sigh... ;0)

do you all have fabulous plans for the weekend? like lounging on a beach, having a huge family barbeque, toughing it out while camping in the wilderness??

no plans here on the prairie...though i did go treasure hunting today...

i can't think of a better way to start summer!

Cheer Wine and Cherries..

thinking of summer once more...

of porch parties and cheer wine soda...

of tying on an apron and feeling domestic...

of homemade cherry pies cooling off on the farmhouse window sill...

Laddered Cows...

have you seen the new country living girls??

in their fresh picks section they feature farmhouse decor inspired by barnyard animals...

i know...

be still my prairie heart...

and do you remember when i had a dilemma awhile ago as to what to put above my couch...

well i decided to bring an old ladder home from my shop to hang above my couch and put picture frames inside it...

i'm still waiting for another number 5 arrive and plan to stencil my house number under the right side of the ladder....or maybe the coordinates of our farm....hhhmmm....definitely something with numbers...

and guess what...yep...country living had three clever uses for an old ladder, one being using it as a frame...

so maybe, just maybe this prairie girl is doing something right with all her cows and ladders!

Prairie Porch Party...

since it doesn't look like spring will ever arrive here on the prairie...i've decided to just skip it...yep we are moving onto summer...and that means barbecues and porch parties...i decided i better start planning...how does this sound for our first get together here on the prairie??

cowboy steak with whiskey butter

grilled chicken with watermelon glaze

grilled corn on the cob

roasted new potatoes

garden fresh salad

heirloom tomatoes

strawberry shortcake

honey cakes with strawberries

and of course refreshments right??

i've decided this book is a must to complete my prairie summer this year...

what exciting plans do you girls have for this summer {besides trips to france} not sure if this prairie girl can handle hearing that... ;0)

Mountain Strawberry Buzz...

happy tuesday girls...

well we survived the wedding...

the kids behaved themselves most of the time...

i didn't fall flat on my face...

which was a plus...

the bride and groom were over the moon happy and things were beautiful...

my two littlest ones played a roll in the wedding ceremony...

that would be my little girl's sugar buzzed look going on...

strawberry shortcake and mountain dew can do that to you...

yep...

that look says it all right there....

next time remind me that 6" heels don't make very good running after a wild prairie child shoes...

next time remind me to pig out on strawberry shortcake and mountain dew...

oh.wait.never mind...to late..

i guess it doesn't work the same for older prairie girls...

it just weighs us down in the middle...
