Calling Coyotes...

when this little wild prairie child...

decides to climb out of the truck...

leaving his comfortable lounge chair behind...

eagerly climbs upon his horse and is told to chase cattle through the thick oak...

he worries a little about getting left behind so naturally lets out a couple cries of despair...

and what should answer his cries on this autumn evening...

a lone coyote...

yep, my little five year old's cries called in a coyote...

much to the delight of his dad, uncle and brother...

not so much his mom...

who wasn't sure if the coyote thought he heard a friend on the wind or the cries of a small injured deer?!?...

this child constantly amazes me...

love the oversized hat photo ...
i have one much like it hanging in my house of my dad about that age, it was taken in the 20's ...
he is barefoot in bib-overalls with his dad's hat on.
what was that song or was it a poem? barefoot boy with cheek of tan?

How did you get a 5 year old cowboy to sit still long enough to have his picture taken? :)

Hi Kristin,

Your world is so far away from how we live here in Switzerland, I love reading about it! And your son is a natural cowboy it seems!
Love the boots!

What a cutie! Poor guy, probably doesn't want to hear about all the old ladies that think he's so cute and would just love to give his cheeks a squeeze...good thing this lil guy is still young enough to feature on your blog-one day it will be an embarrassed, "Moooommmm.." coming your way! :)

Your photos are so awesome!

Great photos!! Love the one with the boots. I love the cry of a coyote myself. There is something so eerie and wild about it. Very weird though, I heard one in the city while house-sitting last week. Walked outside to go to work early one morning and heard a cry. Another day, their yelping woke me up at 3 a.m. I guess they've made a bit of a comeback in the city!
