Features....

I received a lovely convo this morning from a wonderful woman named Bonnie....
Bonnie has an amazing blog where she shares daily inspiration on design and style, handmade artisans, designers, eco indieprenuers, and a more organic way of life.....
My jaw dropped to the floor when I visited the link she sent me.....
And guess what?!?!
She did a feature on my little Etsy store and my passion for a gentler time.....
Please go and give her a visit....it is one truly inspiring place that is simply handmade and homegrown.....
BTW she also can be found on Etsy; absolutely gorgeous!! :0)

A few post back I did a little teaser...
No, not THAT kind silly girls....
A little teaser on what I obsessing about right now....
In one word: GRAY
I have always loved the color?! Yes, some say it is NOT really a color at all....
To them I say....ppppffftttt......
Look at the amazing find on Etsy featuring this color....

sigh....I really want to purchase this but guess what???

I can't remember what store I found it in....the search is definitely on girls....

How can you possibly say not to these lovelies????

What is not to love about the subtle color of green mixed with silvery, metallic gray beads????

Can be found here......

I have to say....I LOVE this shop and her style of jewelry...you can bet I will be doing a lot of drooling over her shop....

OOHHH....doesn't this just take you away to rolling hills, sweet crisp scent of autumn on the breeze, with a soft misty fog accenting the beauty around you.....

Can be found here....

***update: unlisted the scarf***

why do I always realize how much I wanted an item when it's gone?!?!

You can be sure that I will have more features on this soft romantic color within the following weeks.....

I'll let you know about some projects in my home that will be getting a Gray makeover and some industrial farmhouse finds that I will be hinting to Studly Cowboy about....

You know Christmas is right around the corner and I think I deserve a little early present...
don't you?!?!

Our weekend....

Studly Cowboy rode all week last week to push the cattle down to the ranch on the desert...
this weekend we were able to go down and help sort cattle...
okay, so I'm not much help when I'm chasing after two young kids, trying to drive the truck, take pictures and drink Dr. Pepper all at once....
I think he gave up on me....
shucks....
Here are just a few views of our weekend...
*warning*
Studly Cowboy will be working on the ranch and winter range for the next 7 months so you are for warned girls...
a lot of desert pictures to come....
sorry...

little boy blue enjoying the 70 degree weather...
hoping his turn to ride comes soon, hence the spurs....
poor thing never did climb on a horse....

This little munchkin did though...
and yes, that blood curdling scream you all heard...
that was Clancey when she was told she had to get off the horse....
This is Studly Cowboy and my "Old Soul" child pushing the cattle into the corrals....

And here they are sharing a "job well done" hug...
no major problems in getting over 1,000 head of cattle corralled...
well not counting having to replace 6 railroad ties and a dozen poles on the alley way the herd ran through....

Did you notice I mentioned the 70 degree weather....
and lots, and lots, of sunshine...
guess what happens to a fair skinned, (I will not say redheaded)
blond headed prairie girl that hasn't seen this kind of weather for a couple months???
Yep, I'm nursing one heck of a sunburn...
sigh...

a "bug" and elk camp...

Seriously!?!!? When did it become the middle of October?!?
You know how you think since things have "slowed" down you will get caught up on all those projects threatening to over take your family.....?
Then you get some kind of "bug" where all you want to do is sit and stare or blog hop....hoping you will get that other "bug" to recreate so much of the inspiring DIY and fall decorating ideas...
Yeah, that is me...
Have so much to do.....
love this time of year.....
have some ideas....
but they involve sewing....
which can't bring myself to do.....
help....
.....sigh....
Anyway, I did end up making it to "Elk Camp" oh, goodie...
did I mention I used to LOVE camping??
Yes, that was about 10 years ago, childless and a little wilder days...
At least the kids enjoyed it...
here is a look at THE camp...
did I mention elk hunting is huge here....
not only do the changing leaves, crisper mornings, and wood smoke filled air mark the coming of fall.....
but come visit our little county and something is happening to the men...
I have never seen so many with beards....
I have yet to understand.....
It is an annual thing to grow a beard for the elk and deer hunts...??????
This is a view from the tent....
this is where all the cooking, camp fire building, and general BS happens
no we don't sleep in there....
what do you think we are crazy....
do you happen to know how many bears wonder the area....
remind me to tell you my encounter with a bear when I was little and trying to go to the bathroom.....one of the many reasons I seek therapy,,,,
Here Clancey and Ian are gathering fire wood....
Yes it was a little chilly, in all the excitement my "old soul" child forgot his coat....
him, not me....a mom can only do so much....

The following photo is a little teaser.....
not Clancey...
the coloring of the photo...
I have a new obsession and am redoing some areas in the house...
tomorrow will bring some photos and vintage goods that are inspiring me...
That is if I can get rid of the "bug".....
did I mention I need help.....
did I mention I seek therapy....
sigh....
;0)

Happy Birthday...

Happy Birthday to the absolute best husband a prairie girl could ask for!!
You have extreme patience for me and all of my new ideas, crazy as they may be and are always willing to go junking with me....
You work so hard to give your family the very best they deserve....

You always take time to include your family in what you are doing everyday; there is hardly a time that you don't pack one of the kids around when sorting cattle, riding horses, changing sprinklers and other ranch work!!
So THANK YOU for all you do for us and I hope you have a
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

With all my LOVE,
